Our very popular Technical Skills Academy programme is growing from strength to strength. The TSA recently brought a group from our Lurgan and Tullyvallen centre’s to England for a training session at Wrexham F.C, a tour of the Leeds United Academy and also to watch the Everton v Reading game in the Barclay’s Premier League. During the trip the boys also got a talk from Wrexham’s first team manager and one of our kids got to train with the Leeds United u9 Academy team.
In Feb 2013 the TSA brought over one of England’s most successful youth coaches, Everton F.C’s Andy Sas, to deliver coaching sessions to the kids involved in the programme. Andy was very impressed with the standard;
“The kids have improved hughly from this time last year. You can see that a lot of work has been going on from I last seen some of them”.
A recruitment drive has now began and the TSA is now calling on all 6-14 year olds to come into the programme. This is a very exciting time to enter into the programme and take full advantage of everything that is on offer. See here for more information.
We are pleased to announce that the venue for the 2013 Annual Youth Tournament will be Lurgan Junior High School on their excellent 3g playing facility. All applications are now open for the event. Click here for more information.
Players, parents and coaches from the Playing for the Future Technical Skills Academy had a dream football trip recently. The TSA players trained at the Wrexham F.C training ground and had a talk from Wrexham F.C’s first team manager. Andy Morrell, who played for Coventry City and whose team will play at Wembley in two weeks’ time and who are also in prime position to get promoted to the football league, took time out of his busy schedule to have a chat with the TSA kids.
Playing for the Future was privileged to get an invite to visit the Leeds United Academy. Leeds United’s Academy is renowned for producing players to play at the highest level and it was a great experience for our kids to visit a state of the art facility. The boys got a tour of the academy including the indoor pitch, swimming pool, gym, outdoor pitches and even got to see the academy teams from u9 – u18 train.
One TSA player even got the opportunity to join in and train with the Leeds United u9 Academy team, a truly once in a lifetime experience. He has been invited back to train with the academy in the near future. A true testament to the work the Playing for the Future Technical Skills Academy is doing.
One parent said;
“This trip has been the best experience that I could ever have wished for. To get such an insight into a well renowned professional academy was unbelievable. My son will remember this forever.”
To top off the trip the TSA members took in the Everton v Reading game in the Barclays Premier League. The group seen an entertaining game with four goals and plenty of good football and excitement. They even got to meet some of the players after the game.
