Monday 5th of May seen us host the biggest youth football event for u7-u12 age groups in Northern Ireland. The event was named after the late Jimmy Jones. Jimmy is the all-time leading goal scorer in Irish League History having played most notably at Belfast Celtic and Glenavon. Jimmy scored a record 646 career goals and once scored an incredible 74 goals in one season.

The Jimmy Jones Memorial Craigavon Cup brought together all the major clubs in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland with the likes of Glentoran, Glenavon, Portadown, Ballymena, Coleraine, Cliftonville, Shamrock Rovers, Shelbourne, Bohemians and Derry City all participating in the event.

The invitational tournament had a total of 16 teams at each age group from u7, u8, u9, u10, u11 & U12 with an official attendance of 2,243 inside Mourneview Park stadium. Some great football was played and no doubt many international stars of the future were on show. We would like to thank the Mayor of Craigavon Mark Baxter for supporting the event, staff at Craigavon Borough Council, Adrian Teer Glenavon F.C Chairman and Roy McMahon Chairman of Portadown F.C for his support also.

Big thanks also to all the sponsors who contributed towards the event including Main Sponsor’s McDonald’s Restaurant Craigavon and Sainsbury’s Craigavon.

Plans for the 2015 event are well underway.

They have used the article in their recent addition and where kind enough to send it through to us via email.

We are looking for potential new sponsors to support our on-going programmes. Our highly successful Technical Skills Academy and Annual Youth Tournament are the two biggest projects we cover with exposure for businesses reaching into the thousands.

Our website is growing all the time along with our Facebook & Twitter pages and with the expansion of the Technical Skills Academy, 1-to-1 coaching programme as well as schools and community programmes our exposure is increasing daily. A truly exciting time to come on board. We are a Community Interest Company and do not exist to make profit. We are here to benefit the community and any sponsorship received goes straight back into our programmes to help us reach out, work with more young people and expand our good work. By helping us you are helping others, your business and also allowing us to have a positive impact on the development of the community.

There are a range of sponsorship packages available and each one provides cover on our website, facebook and twitter pages. All packages can be tailored to your needs and affordable for a business of any size. Sponsorship is also open for individuals or groups of people who wish to make a difference.

If you are interested then please contact us via email [email protected] or give us a call on 07821579451. Please also feel free to post this page on your facebook or twitter pages and also email to friends, business associates etc.

Technical Skills Academy – Update

We where both extremely pleased and encouraged by the response to the start of year two at the Technical Skills Academy. We had kids from Armagh, Portadown, Lurgan, Banbridge, Dungannon and Craigavon. We still have spaces available but would like to stress the importance of getting in early to avoid missing out. The three coaches on Sunday where all UEFA B level and one has started the UEFA A Licence.

Some parents have expressed an interest in staying on for a second hour for another session and this is something we will look at in due course.

Regarding our Annual Trips to pro clubs in England we plan to now run these every year at Halloween during the school holidays. Obviously it is too close timing wise to organise now for Halloween. However we will be looking at a trip around March or April 2014. Please keep an eye out on our website for more information. These trips are open to Technical Skills Academy players only and are on a first come first serve basis. Typically, due to limited spaces, we operate on a one child 1 parent ratio. Please note that the Technical Skills Academy is open to all players of all abilities and from all clubs etc.

We would like to thank everyone who attended week one and hope to see you all, plus more, back at week two.

TSA is at The Football Warehouse Portadown. Link to directions bel0w;
