From Northern Ireland – 1-to-1 Specialised Coaching Programme;
If you are thinking of 1-1 coaching or interested in joining Playing for the Future skills academy please read the following;
My son, Jamie, aged 8 started 1-1 coaching with Tom at the end of September 2011 and the results have been unbelievable.
When Jamie was 4, he started to attend football coaching in Banbridge on a Saturday morning. He then attended coaching in Lurgan and Portadown. As time progressed Jamie went to other football clubs during school holidays etc. I started to realise that there were a lot of different methods of coaching out there being used by coaches and clubs to teach kids. I knew by the look and body language of Jamie and the other kids if they were enjoying their coaching or not and thought that the coaches would also have noticed it. Unfortunately they did not, so I tried to figure out what I could do to ensure that my son was getting the best possible coaching available. I researched on the internet and looked at the technical methods used by professional clubs in England and around the world. I soon came to the conclusion that 1-1 coaching by a trained professional, who has experience in coaching kids and who can connect and get their full attention was the solution. This was achieved by making the training fun yet informative and was the key in bringing out Jamie’s full potential. This was when I came across Tom.
I watched Tom and an English coach take a coaching session with kids of all ages and noticed what level the kids in England where at in comparisson to the kids over here. The kids gave their full attention and the varied range of skills covered was fantastic. That was when I knew that I had found the correct coaching method that would enable Jamie to reach the same level as our English counterparts. I spoke to Tom after this session and that was when I decided Jamie would start 1-1 coaching. Jamie is currently on week 12 of a 20 week course and the improvement I have seen in his skills, movement, body posture and confidence is second to none. Jamie also attends the skills academy where he continues to get professional coaching from Tom and Mark McCann. Jamie will also be receiving 1-1 coaching from Evertons long term development coach, Andy Sas, which is a fantastic boost for Jamies self confidence.
Being videoed doing a skills session to be used by the Playing for the Future website also gave Jamies self confidence a boost. He is getting opportunities that have only been made possible by Tom and the Playing for the Future Academy. For this I cannot thank Tom enough. Tom also hopes to get Jamie and possibly the skills academy over to England to train with professional youth teams. Yet again an unbelievable experience for Jamie to look forward to. Again a big big thanks to Tom and Playing for the Future for the opportunities and dedication they have given my son and for what they can give him in the future.
From Northern Ireland – Birthday Party;
I would just like to thank Playing for the Future for doing my son Ben’s 6th Birthday Party this year, in Lurgan.
From Northern Ireland – Birthday Party;
Just wanted to say a massive thank you to Thomas, for organising my sons recent football themed birthday party. It was a great success and all the kids thoroughly enjoyed!! Charlie said that it was his best party ever, and how many more sleeps until his next one lol. Thomas was extremely professional from start to finish and really engaged all the kids plus it was a stress free day for mummy:) I would highly recommend for your child’s next birthday party. Money well spent and a memorable day!!
From Northern Ireland – Sports Camp;
I wanted to thank “Playing for the Future” for providing the opportunity to my son Adam B. to take part in this year’s Easter Camp.
He really enjoyed the variety of the 4 sports available, and trying Hurling for the first time. Adam had played Rugby Tots until last year, but nothing has been available for age 5 – 7 this year, so he thoroughly enjoyed playing Rugby again. The event was also a great way for him to meet new children and see some of his friends from his Gaelic & Soccer football groups.
Thank you to all those who volunteered and to the sponsors who funded the event – the children were so spoilt with their BBQ & treats.
“During his visit to the States a few years back, Thomas coached our Hellertown PA youth during his tour. My wife and I had the good fortune to have Thomas stay with us during his visit and came to know him as a vibrant, energetic and highly intelligent young man. After just a few days with our local program, I saw his passion for and skill in coaching young football players became quite evident. I am honored that he would ask me to provide a professional recommendation for his role as Director at Playing for the Future!
“Thomas coached my young son and satayed in my home during his camp here in Maryland. He was well liked and achioeved results with his students, and a pleasure to be with on and off the field.
I recommend him as a coach and a person.
