Playing for the Future have launched a new Technical Skills Academy and are inviting interest from clubs who may be interested in the programme being held at their club.

The Technical Skills Academy will focus on developing creative, skillful players who are comfortable on the ball. The programme has been designed after years of research at top professional clubs all over the world and will use best practise from clubs such as Real Madrid, Everton F.C, Leeds United, Manchester City as well as academies in America, Malta and Spain.

Playing for the Future currently have a Technical Skills Academy in Craigavon, Co.Armagh working with 8-10 year olds and recently took the group to Everton F.C on a visit to the clubs academy to watch u9 & u10 training sessions, u18 game v Manchester United, u16’s v Blackpool and had a tour of the clubs training ground. Academy manager Thomas McStravick said;

“The trip was a great learning experience for both players and parents and really opened a few eyes with regards to what standard is required to reach academy level in a top Premiership club. Technically our players in NI are behind and our Technical Skills Academy teaches skills that will encourage players to be comfortable on the ball using both feet. We believe that by going through our programme players will reach a high standard”

As well as a world class training programme players and coaches involved will be able to travel to professional clubs, have access to coaching clinics and inservice training, develop their club coaching programme, raise the profile of their club and develop players capable of playing at a higher level. Added to that we will bring over some top English academy coaches to coach at the Technical Skills Academy!!
