Seagoe Youth Football Club and its partner Playing for the Future are currently rolling out their “Positive Football” project which is part-funded through the EU’s PEACE III Programme, promoted by Armagh City and District Council on behalf of the Southern Cluster Partnership.

The project’s aim is to bring together both players and coaches from the two groups in an effort to build bridges between children and adults who may not normally have the opportunity to integrate.

The project started by bringing together the players and coaches at a team building exercise at the Craigavon Water Sports Centre, were they took part in a fun filled day of activities such as Canoeing, Banana Boating, Archery, and Mountain Biking.

The funding will be also used to organise workshops in good relations, child protection and junior club development. Coaches at the club will also benefit through the delivery of Irish Football Association coach education courses. The players will have the opportunity to develop with combined training sessions and football festivals. The programme will finish with a residential trip to England to play as combined teams against English opposition and also take in an English Premier League game.
